Copy of a photo of the schooner Naiad. Typed description by F.O. Johnson:
"I was mate in this vessel in the year 1899 and 1900. We carried lumber from East Jordon, Charlevoix and other Lake Michigan parts to Chicago. Also railroad ties to Lake Erie ports, some coal, Lake Erie to Lake Michigan. Also carried one cargo of steel rails from Milwaukee to East Jordon. Had about 500 tons. We unloaded these rails by hand, 3 men to each end of the rail putting the rails other the schooner's rail on the dock. All the cargo was on deck of the schooner. Capt. Christ Edwardsen was Master and part owner."
